Private mediation is an informal and non-adversarial process where a neutral third-person (“Mediator”) can help you reach a mutually acceptable and voluntary resolution of your legal dispute or conflict. In private mediation, decision making rests with the participants rather than a Judge or Hearing Officer. Mediations are always confidential and take place away from the courthouse, completely off the record. Mediation can also take place prior to the filing of a lawsuit and does not always require strict compliance with the rules of procedure.
The mission of the Westmoreland Mediation Academy is to establish and maintain an integrated group of Westmoreland County lawyers skilled and experienced in the legal practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) with the objective of improving and enhancing the Administration of Justice through private mediation, assisting the Courts in the prompt and just disposition of cases and maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct among its members. To this end, Academy members not only strive to educate the public but also to provide advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution training to attorneys desirous of becoming trained ADR practitioners and mediators.
Academy Members are specifically trained in Family Law Mediation and are especially dedicated to the common-sense resolution of any and all domestic/family law matters including but not limited to divorce, custody, support and equitable distribution.
Our mediators are dedicated to providing a “cooperative divorce” process to those families interested in avoiding the extensive cost of public “courtroom battles,” extended Court delays and the general inefficiencies and often-irreparable emotional strain of public divorce litigation. Sensitive to the common complaints that traditional divorce litigation “takes too long, costs too much and nothing ever happens,” Westmoreland Mediation Academy mediators provide only the highest quality alternative dispute resolution services.
